Paper and Wood
Requirements for Products Made from Trees: Update for Companies and Qualification of Employees (1.5 hours, Online)

In this practice forum, you will receive information from practice for practice on more sustainable products made of wood in the areas of paper, furniture and clothing in the context of the EU Ecodesign Directive and the Supply Chain Sourcing Obligations Act (LkSG).

This is about the basic conditions for the cultivation of wood in plantations and the extraction of wood from forest stands. Which institutions are helpful here, such as the Forest Stewardship Council, which requirements should also be taken into account for wood from plantations and how does this fit in with the requirements of the Timber Trade Regulation. What has to be considered during processing, starting in the sawmill and finally in the production plant for the products (labor and environmental requirements).

Finally, it goes to the products themselves. The spectrum of wood-based products ranges from paper to clothing to furniture. The Ecodesign Directive requires repairability for a "long" life and then also recyclability in cycles or composting of the main materials. However, setting up a management system to handle these processes is always comparable.

We want to show ways for an efficient risk identification and assessment so that the participants can use the opportunities that always arise with a systematic sustainability management. In addition to the building blocks of cultivation, processing, and production, we will address the topic of transportation and focus on the environmental aspect of climate protection. In the end, we also want to bring more sustainability into the business processes with this module, i.e. it is also about compliance and strategy development.

With practice-oriented knowledge and knowledgeable practice, efficiently build more sustainable business processes and ensure long-term entrepreneurial success.
