Traceability Manager (1.5 hours, Online)

The traceability of materials is becoming increasingly important in textile supply chains. New requirements and compliance regulations in the EU and US have implications for suppliers and manufacturers all over the world. The latest regulations in the US place particular importance on avoiding cotton from Xinjiang, China. Demand for traceable materials, especially cotton, is rising.

Besides that, traceability is an important factor in quality control. With more integrated solutions and transparency favoured, establishing an effective traceability management system is an investment in the future and enables companies to proactively offer solutions to their customers.

The traceability manager certification trains key staff in the responsibilities of traceability management and accurate data management. The training will cover understanding, establishing, and maintaining traceability management systems in line with internationally accepted standards.

Certified traceability managers understand traceability requirements, manage traceability systems and act as direct contact persons for international customers at key suppliers in regard to traceability.

1. Social Compliance Manager (1.5 hours)

Social compliance is one of the pillars of applied CSR as well as international standards and certifications. The course Social Compliance Management is designed to build capacities in understanding and handling social compliance related issues. In addition to practical skills of managing social compliance related issues, the participants will develop a deeper understanding of the development process of social compliance standards as well as tools and measures in order to monitor internal but also external developments as well as their potential implications on international supply chains.

Certified social compliance managers understand and implement social compliance and CSR in line with current requirements and customer expectations on the ground.

2. Circularity Manager (1.5 hours)

With more and more countries, municipalities and brands embracing circularity, recycling is increasingly becoming a core part of sustainability approaches. Recycling links the end of a product’s life to the beginning of a new product’s one. In this way, it is the first part of the supply chain and alternative to raw material sourcing. Currently, recycling is largely used to produce low value items. In order to create realistic and practical circular supply chains, it is important to work with manufacturers who are operating at this initial step of the production process.

With the Circularity Management course, key staff at textile shredding units and spinning mills is trained in relevant topics of operating a modern, future-ready recycling operation. Besides technical parameters and quality control, understanding of other market requirements, such as traceability, data management and environmental footprints will be covered.

Certified circularity managers understand circularity concepts and related market requirements regarding and are able to manage all relevant parts of related operations within the company.

3. Occupational Health and Safety Management (1.5 hours)

The course provides content for factory staff to fill the position of an Occupational Health and Safety Manager. The course introduces definitions, informs about national laws and international regulations, and provides guidance to ensuring a safe work environment. Emphasis is given to hazard identification, risk assessment and risk management, which are key to safe working and responsible supply chain management.

The participants learn about their roles and responsibilities in managing matters related to workplace health and safety. Following international standards to establishing management systems, the participants learn how to manage OHS by implementing a monitoring system that serves for monitoring and continuous improvement.

4. Internal Auditors (1.5 hours)

This course is an add on course to not only focus on internal audit processes but also on skills and responsibilities successful internal auditors must have in order to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the system.

5. Environmental Management (1.5 hours)

The course Environmental Management/Environmental Management systems will focus on the development of operational management capacities regarding environmental requirements. Capacities are to be built to identify and understand international requirements as well as organisational or supply chain risks.

Professionals will be trained regarding their internal and external responsibilities according to international certifications and standards. Additional focus will be on different monitoring tools to utilise to maintain a continuous flow of environmental information.

6. Chemical Management (1.5 hours)

Chemical management plays a vital role within the global textile supply chains as it is not only a crucial essential for internationally valid certifications but also the foundation of a number of international stakeholder initiatives brands and retailers have focussed on. The number of chemicals used as well as the potentially sever impact of non compliance is placing this topic on top of the list.

The course Chemical Management will provide a basic introduction of comprehensive chemical management systems currently required by most international customers and certifications. The course will provide training on the essentials of a chemical management system responsibilities, requirements, as well as standardised processes focussing on areas having a direct impact on the chemical performance.

Due to the shortness of the course it is recommended to add the Chemical Safety Management Course as CSM is an essential part of Chemical Management Systems.

7. German Due Diligence Law (1.5 hours)

The workshop will outline the impacts of the German Due Diligence Law (Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetz – LkSG) and explain the required actions from suppliers.

Legal requirements currently only affect companies with 3000/1000 employees, but in practice, the German Supply Chain Law applies to everyone with immediate effect.

The law sets out clear due diligence obligations and obliges German businesses to fulfill responsibilities in order to improve human rights protection and environmental issues in their supply chains. This development impacts manufacturers along supply chains of German brands and retailers by setting new requirements.
